The most prestigious event in the Mediterranean sailing calendar, just steps from Palma’s harbor.
Every July, Palma becomes the international sailing capital for the Copa del Rey, organised by the Real Club Náutico de Palma. The 43rd edition of this iconic event will take place this year from 26 July to 2 August, showcasing some of the most spectacular performance yachts in a unique Mediterranean setting.
It’s a one-of-a-kind regatta!
For one week, Palma Bay will host over 55 vessels from 14 different countries. The fleet includes elite classes such as ORC 0, ClubSwan 50/42, and ORC A, B, and C, as well as a Women’s Cup with all-female crews and a team from the Spanish Navy.
Notable entries include Teatro Soho-Altavista (TP52), the 2024 champion; Aifos, captained by His Majesty King Felipe VI; Urbania (TP52), led by Tomás Gasset; and Elena Nova (Swan 42), a two-time winner in the ORC A category. Other competitive TP52 yachts include Gladiator, Música and Vudú.
This edition will also feature the 2025 ORC European Championship, setting new standards for technical and sporting excellence.
Where should you stay during the Copa del Rey in Palma?
Look no further than the five-star Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden, offering the ultimate accommodation experience. Located in the heart of Palma’s Old Town and just a five-minute walk from the marina, this Grand Luxury boutique hotel has 24 suites ranging from 30 to 80 m² and boasts an intimate spa and an outdoor pool. It also boasts the largest private garden in the city centre.
Having been named Europe’s Best All-Suite Hotel for five consecutive years, Can Bordoy expertly combines design, history and impeccable service.
Head up to the rooftop terrace for breathtaking views of Palma Cathedral, the Almudaina Palace, Bellver Castle, and the Real Club Náutico, where the regatta will take place.
Its heritage is linked to the sea.
Can Bordoy is more than just a luxury hotel — it is part of Palma’s maritime history. Originally known as ‘La Casa de Gloria’, the building was acquired in 1894 by Francisco Bordoy Rullán, a shipping magnate who chose this location for its proximity to Plaça de Drassanes and Palma’s current seafront promenade.
The current owner, Mikael Hall, is a Swedish entrepreneur with a deep connection to the sea; his father was a sailor. In tribute to this legacy, a sextant that accompanied his father on voyages sits proudly in the Botànic restaurant, forging a symbolic link between the past and the present.
Enjoy lunch or dinner in Palma’s largest private garden.
During the regatta, both guests and visitors can dine at Botànic, which is Mallorca’s first “plant-forward” restaurant. Its gourmet cuisine is served in Palma’s Old Town’s largest private garden, where dining under ancient trees provides a tranquil and unforgettable experience.
The restaurant’s exceptional cuisine and lush surroundings make it the perfect place to soak up the social atmosphere of the 2025 Copa del Rey.
If you’re planning to attend this prestigious event, seize the chance to enjoy an unforgettable stay at Can Bordoy and experience the excitement of the regatta in the heart of Palma. Delight in refined garden lunches and charming dinners in the most enchanting oasis in the historic centre.
